Gisele P. Wolf-Klein, MD, is Chief of the Division of Geriatric Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJMC) in New Hyde Park, New York, and Professor of Clinical Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM) of Yeshiva University in the Bronx, New York.
Dr Wolf-Klein earned her MD from the Faculty of Medicine of Geneva, Switzerland. She completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in geriatric medicine at the LIJMC and Parker Jewish Institute (PJI) for Geriatric Care. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, with added qualifications in geriatric medicine. Dr Wolf-Klein is a member of many professional societies, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Geriatrics Society, the Gerontological Society of America, and the American Society of Internal Medicine and Sigma Xi Stony Brook Chapter. She has served as President of the Metropolitan Area Geriatrics Society and is the Chairperson of the Scientific Committee for the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation (LIAF). She is also a Member of the Medical Advisory Board of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, representing the needs of the older driver.
Dr Wolf-Klein has also received many awards and honors, including being named in Best Doctors in America each year since 1993. She has received the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award 4 times, received the Best Teacher Award from both LIJMC and PJI, and was the 2000 recipient of Muriel & Sidney Resnick Humanitarian Award presented by Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation at the LIAF 13th Annual Remembrance Ball. In 2001, Dr Wolf-Klein was elected to the Davidoff Society, AECOM. She was recently awarded the 2003 Samuel M. Rosen Award for Outstanding Teaching in the Clinical Curriculum, AECOM and the 2005 Sandra Atlas Bass Award for Clinical Excellence, North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System.
Dr Wolf-Klein has served as a consultant or advisor for many national and international programs, including the Alzheimer Forum: Weight Loss in Alzheimer’s Disease, an International Perspective, Cologne, Germany in 1994, and the International Symposium: The Older Driver, Health and Mobility, Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, in 1998. Dr Wolf-Klein also served as Contributing Editor/Reviewer for the Journal of the American Geriatric Society in 1996, and has authored or coauthored over 150 articles and abstracts including 40 articles in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and the Journal of the American Geriatric Society, among others. She has also made many appearances on television and radio news shows to discuss issues associated with geriatric medicine and Alzheimer’s disease.
