Darryl Chutka, MD, is an internist and geriatrician in the Division of Preventative and Occupational Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. After completing his internal medicine residency at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education, he attended Stanford University School of Medicine as a Mayo Foundation Scholar and completed a fellowship in geriatrics. He subsequently practiced geriatrics for 19 years
and was Program Director of the Geriatrics Fellowship at Mayo before transferring to preventative medicine in 2000. He has been President of the Minnesota Nursing Home Medical Directors Association and President of the Zumbro Valley Medical Society. He is very active in teaching at the Mayo Medical School, Mayo Graduate School, and Continuing Medical Education. He has received several awards from Mayo Medical School including Teacher of the Year (1991, 1994, 2000), the Dean’s Recognition Award, and the Department of Medicine Medical School Education Award. He was also recognized as the outstanding course director for 2003 by Mayo Continuing Medical Education.
