Donna L. Masterman, MD, is Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of
California, Los Angeles, UCLA School of Medicine. She is also Clinical and Research Core
Director of the UCLA Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) and the UCLA Alzheimer's
Disease Research Center of California (ARCC). In addition, Dr Masterman is Director of the
Katherine and Benjamin Kagan Alzheimer's Disease Treatment Program, Director of the ADRC
and ARCC Continuity Care Clinic, and Attending Physician at the Movement Disorders Clinic,
all at UCLA.
Dr Masterman earned her MD from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle,
during which time she completed a student internship focusing on Alzheimer's disease at the
National Institute of Mental Health. She continued her postgraduate training at the University
of Washington, completing an internship in internal medicine. She then performed a residency
in clinical neurology and fellowships in behavioral neurology and movement disorders at UCLA.
Dr Masterman has written numerous journal articles, abstracts, and book chapters and has
lectured nationally on dementia. She is also an ad hoc reviewer for several journals,
including the Lancet and JAMA, and is on the editorial review board for Medicine and Behavior.
She has also been an investigator on many dementia-related research projects.
Dr Masterman is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy
of Neurology and the Movement Disorders Society, and is also a member of several advisory
boards and committees. She was a founding member and is on the Board of Directors of the
American Society of Experimental NeuroTherapeutics.
