Helena C. Chui, MD, is the Raymond and Betty McCarron Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Southern California (USC), Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles. Dr Chui is Associate Director of the NIA Alzheimer Disease Research Center Clinical Core at USC. In addition, she is Director of the Alzheimer Disease Research Center of California and Chairperson of the Department of Neurological Sciences at USC's Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, California.
Dr Chui earned her medical degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. She completed an internship, fellowship, and residency at University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City, where she received the Senior Resident of the Year Award. Dr Chui's other awards and honors include the Alzheimer Association's Research Award, from the Los Angeles Chapter.
She has written or co-written numerous articles, chapters, books, and abstracts on dementia and is on the editorial board for Alzheimer's Disease and Associated Disorders: An International Journal. She has lectured nationally and internationally on Alzheimer's disease and ischemic vascular dementia. Dr Chui is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology, the Society for Neuroscience, and the American Neurological Association.
