Cornelia K. Beck, PhD, RN, is Professor in the Department of Geriatrics, the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and in the College of Nursing, all at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Dr Beck earned her AD in Nursing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and her BSN and MSE from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. She then received her PhD in Nursing from Texas Woman's University in Denton. She is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the Distinguished Contribution to Nursing Science Award from the American Nurses Foundation. Dr Beck has co-authored numerous articles and serves on the editorial board of several publications, including Geriatrics Times, Alzheimer's Care Quarterly, Aging & Mental Health, and American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry. She has been active in many funded research activities and has given more than 200 lectures internationally on geriatrics and Alzheimer's disease. She is a member of the International Geropsychiatric Association, the Gerontological Society of America, and the National Gerontological Nursing Association.
