Steven E. Arnold, MD, is Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) School of Medicine in Philadelphia, where he is also Associate Director of the Mahoney Institute of Neurological Sciences.

Dr Arnold is Director of the Laboratory for Cellular and Molecular Neuropathology at the Center for Neurobiology and Behavior in the Department of Psychiatry and a Senior Fellow in the Institute of Aging, both at UPENN. In addition, Dr Arnold is Clinician-Investigator at the Alzheimer's Disease Center - Memory Disorders Clinic at the Hospital of the UPENN.

Dr Arnold earned his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts. He completed an internship in internal medicine at St Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center and a residency in psychiatry at the New York State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, both in New York City. He then performed his residency in neurology and a fellowship in behavioral neurology and cognitive neuroscience at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and was a Postgraduate Associate in neuroanatomy at the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City.

Dr Arnold is the recipient of several awards and honors. He has written numerous articles, chapters, books, and abstracts on dementia-related topics and is on the editorial board for the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry and the Journal of Gerontology. He has also lectured nationally and internationally on the neuroscience and neuropathology of schizophrenia and dementia.

Dr Arnold is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Neuropathology, the American Neuropsychiatric Association, the Society of Neuroscience, and the American Psychiatric Association. He is also a member of several advisory boards and committees
